Performances

We take pride in showcasing our students throughout the year.  All students are invited and encouraged to participate in various community events, charity events, and 2 studio recitals.  Information regarding any performances will be posted in our monthly newsletter and updated on the website.

If a dancer chooses not to be in a recital, please notify the instructor as soon as possible.  This avoids you paying for a costume that you will not be using.

Volunteers are always needed on recital days.  Volunteers are needed to help individual classes be ready for their dance and to help monitor the dancers while offstage.  Volunteers never pay for a ticket for themselves.

Recitals shows start on time, so please make sure that the dancers are on time and ready for their performance.  It is not the responsibility of the volunteers or the studio's staff to get the dancer ready for their performance.

Dancers will receive their costumes the week of the performance (only if the costume is paid in full).  The office will let the students know the amount due in advance to allow plenty of opportunity to pay the account balance.

Information on the 2 recitals

Holiday Recital

The Holiday Recital is in December, usually the second or third weekend of the month.  There are two shows.  Most classes are not in both shows.  If your child's class is chosen to be in both shows, you will be notified.  Once the date, time, and location is confirmed it will be announced in the monthly newsletter and posted on the website.

NEW THIS YEAR - Holiday T-shirts!  Click here for order form.

The cost of the costumes for this recital is kept to a minimum.  The instructors try to use clothing that the students will be able to wear again or rent/borrow costumes from previous shows.

Discounted tickets will be able to be purchased ahead of time at the studio during office hours.  Non-discounted tickets will also be available on the day of the recital at the entrance door.  The date when the tickets go on sale will be announced in the monthly newsletter and posed on the website.

Regardless of the performance, the student is not allowed to leave the backroom unless it is to use the bathroom or perform on stage.  STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SIT IN THE AUDIENCE AT ANY TIME, without Ms. Kathy's or Ms. Randee's approval.

At this time video taping is allowed.  Still, there a couple of guidelines that you will need to follow.

1.    There are people around you.  Please do not block their view!

2.    For safety purposes, there are NO tripods allowed.  You will need to hold the video recorder.

3.    People do complain and you will be asked to remove the tripod or item that is obstructing their view.

What is allowed in the backroom:

**Water only for a beverage.  We do not want the students to stain their costumes or anyone else's accidentally before performing.

**Coloring books and crayons (no markers of any kind).

**No food is allowed.

**No beads or any other messy type activity.  If you cannot clean it up before leaving, then do not bring it.

Spring Recital

The Spring Recital is usually the second Sunday in June.  The stage rehearsal is on the Saturday before at the location of the show.  There are two shows.  Most classes are not in both shows.  If your child's class is chosen to be in both shows, you will be notified.

In recent past, the recital has been held at Reuther High School in Kenosha, WI.  There is, however, no guarantee that the Spring Recital will continue to be held at this location.

A costume deposit of $50 (per student/per class) will need to be paid by January 17th.  This allows the studio to begin purchasing the costumes for the recital.  The remainder of the costumes balance will be known in May.  The students will receive a statement showing the account balance.

There are other costs associated with the Spring Recital that you may like to be aware of.  All but tickets are optional.

Recital T-Shirt: The front of the t-shirt has the theme of the recital and all dancers names are listed on the back.  T-Shirt Order Form
Photographs: There are a variety of options.  Individual and class pictures are available.
Flowers: These flowers are ordered through a flower shop by American Stars of Dance.  Then the parent only needs to pick the flowers up at recital.  Extra flowers may be available for sale on the day of recital at a higher cost.  So please order early.
Flower Order Form
DVD: The DVD is a professional recording of the whole show with shots of the dancers backstage.            (At this time no personal videotaping is allowed.)
Tickets: Tickets go on sale before the recital on a Saturday evening.  Sales will continue at the Antioch studio during regular office hours and conclude the day of recital at the entrance door.  Please keep in mind though, unlike the Holiday Recital, the Spring Recital has assigned seating.  When buying tickets keep in mind where your dancer will be on stage (left, right, center) and purchase accordingly.  Seniors and children under the age of 12 are given a discounted ticket price.  Any child that will sit in his/her own seat will need a ticket.
Program Ads: Give your dancer a personal message souvenir in our recital program or advertise your business.  Program Ads/Message Form

What is allowed backroom:

**Water only for a beverage.  We do not want the students to stain their costumes or anyone else's accidentally before performing.

**Coloring books and crayons (no markers of any kind).

**Snacks

non-messy variety   Examples:  pretzels, Gold Fish crackers

NO peanut products   We have students who have serious allergies.  So please be considerate of your fellow dancers.

**No beads or any other messy type activity.  If you cannot clean it up before leaving, then do not bring it.

At this time no personal videotaping is allowed.

There is also a Finalé practice in the beginning of May.  The exact date will be posted in the monthly newsletter section of the website.  What is a Finalé you ask?  At the end of the show, all the dancers go on stage.  The dancers will dance to this last song of the show together.  So this practice allows all the dancers of that particular show to work together and learn the dance.

Volunteers for this recital not only get in free, they also receive TWO FREE TICKETS.  The volunteers will be back stage, however, the volunteer is allowed to go up front to watch their child(ren) perform when on stage.
